CHARGE AIR COOLERS FOR A VARIETY OF APPLICATIONS
After air passes through the turbocharger, it needs to be cooled before it enters the engine. This is where the charge air cooler comes in. In order for the engine to perform optimally, air needs to be at a lower temperature before it passes through to the combustion process.
We feature charge air coolers and engine cooling components from some of the best brands in the industry for a wide range of applications including Freightliner, Mack, Volvo, International, and other bus, commercial vehicle, and heavy-duty applications.
HOW A CHARGE AIR COOLER WORKS
Technically speaking, a charge air cooler is a heat exchange device that is used with turbocharged and supercharged (forced induction) internal combustion engines to improve their volumetric efficiency through increasing the intake air-charge density through isochoric cooling. This decrease in intake air temperature provides a denser intake charge to the engine, allowing more air and fuel to be combusted per engine cycle and improving the output of the engine.
As with most parts, charge air coolers are not a “one size fits all” purchase. The size of a charge air cooler depends on the size of the engine, and our charge air coolers offer the header to header dimensions and other specifications your vehicle needs to get up and stay up.
