Although you hardly ever see them, the bearings in your vehicle work together with your hubs, wheels, and tires to make sure all of the parts move together. The bearings allow for proper friction-free movement and rotation of the hub assembly, ensuring smooth tire and wheel rotation. When the bearings need to be replaced, you can usually tell by the sound and feel of the steering and tires.
When your bearings, cups, and cones do need to be replaced, never settle for less than the best. NTN Bearings has specialized in roller bearings and more since 1918 and continues to pioneer the industry with leading roller bearing technology.
NTN TAPERED ROLLER BEARING CUPS AND CONES
The bearings on your hubs are not one-size-fits-all, so knowing what type of bearings you’ve got on your vehicle - and if those bearings are best suited to your application - is crucial. Tapered roller bearings feature conical rollers and raceways that are arranged so that the rollers and raceways meet at a common point. The rollers are then guided by the contact between the large end of the roller and a rib on the inner ring. This provides a high capacity for radial and single thrust loads.
Tapered roller bearing cups and cones work in tandem to efficiently manage your vehicle’s axial load and radial loads. The cylindrical shape and tapered design of these types of roller bearings have proven to be very effective for many heavy-duty applications, and the cups and cones can be purchased either separately or together to meet your specific trucking needs when a component needs to be replaced.
NTN TAPERED ROLLER BEARING SETS
The uptime of your truck depends on a lot of factors, but the life cycle and performance of your entire wheel hub is critical not only to your safety but also to your business. If you’ve got a situation where one of the tell-tale signs of wheel bearing failure is happening, we also sell NTN tapered roller bearing sets, which include both cups and cones that are engineered to your specific application, static load, and dynamic load.
Don’t skimp on the parts that go into your wheel hub and risk the unexpected downtime and costs that can come with lower-quality bearings. Trust NTN for all of your wheel bearing needs, and shop our full haul of heavy-duty everything to find the bearing components that are right for you.
NTN began in 1918 when investor Noboru Niwa brought his company Tomoe Trading Co. together with engineer Jiro Nishizono. Together, they pioneered and manufactured the first NTN ball bearings.
By 1939, NTN opened what would become its global manufacturing center, Kuwana Works, and in 1954 it became the first Japanese industrial manufacturer to be awarded the esteemed Deming Prize for quality control. NTN continued to experience growth throughout the 1950s and 1960s as more factories were built and sales operations expanded to Europe.
NTN Bearing Corporation of America was founded in 1963 to support sales of NTN bearings in the U.S. market. NTN was now capable of producing ball bearings, spherical, tapered, cylindrical, and needle roller bearings and automotive constant velocity joints. By the mid-1980s, NTN acquired the Bower brand, expanding its catalog of tapered and cylindrical roller bearings. Ten years later, NTN acquired the BCA brand to round out its product line with automotive clutch release bearings and specialty agricultural bearing assemblies.
