ABOUT NTN

NTN began in 1918 when investor Noboru Niwa brought his company Tomoe Trading Co. together with engineer Jiro Nishizono. Together, they pioneered and manufactured the first NTN ball bearings.

By 1939, NTN opened what would become its global manufacturing center, Kuwana Works, and in 1954 it became the first Japanese industrial manufacturer to be awarded the esteemed Deming Prize for quality control. NTN continued to experience growth throughout the 1950s and 1960s as more factories were built and sales operations expanded to Europe.

NTN Bearing Corporation of America was founded in 1963 to support sales of NTN bearings in the U.S. market. NTN was now capable of producing ball bearings, spherical, tapered, cylindrical, and needle roller bearings and automotive constant velocity joints. By the mid-1980s, NTN acquired the Bower brand, expanding its catalog of tapered and cylindrical roller bearings. Ten years later, NTN acquired the BCA brand to round out its product line with automotive clutch release bearings and specialty agricultural bearing assemblies.
