If temperatures become too cold and drop below a coiled air line's working temperature, the air lines can lose their ability to stretch and recoil. When air lines lose their stretching ability, more force is applied to the gladhands. This can cause the gladhands to separate or even completely pull away, leading to a loss in air pressure to the brake system. Inflexibility in the air lines can also cause kinking, which can block air to the brake system and permanently damage air lines. Made of a proprietary blend, Phillips Polar Air line jacketing is designed to surround an air assembly’s nylon tubing and create a barrier from extreme outside temperatures. Philipps ABS Permacoil
The ABS Permacoil from Phillips is recommended for ABS applications and is flexible from -87 degrees F to 150 degrees F (-66 degrees C to 66degrees C). With the ABS Permacoil, Phillips recommends using a tracker bar spring kit or pogo stick to support cable assemblies with longer leads. As with all Phillips products, the proprietary design and engineering of the ABS Permacoil allows it to retain recoil memory and working length in extreme temperatures that are lower than the industry standard. The QCP, or Quick Connect Plug, of the ABS Permacoil is unique to Phillips and makes changing plug ends on electrical cables fast and easy. The Weather-Tite Permaplug features unbreakable, non-corrosive housing and a seal that blocks all contaminants from entering the electrical system.
Phillips Gladhands
When it comes to securing your air line connection, nothing keeps you going stronger or longer than straight mount gladhand technology from Phillips. Straight mount gladhands feature wrap-around connector plate that provide additional strength and a powder-coated connector plate for corrosion resistance. Straight mount gladhands are manufactured with a zinc-coated detent plate and e-coated screws for corrosion protection. They meet SAE J318 specifications and have stainless steel detent plates and connector plate options available. In extreme temperatures, it’s possible for low quality gladhand to technology to fail and potentially lead to air line disconnection, damage, or leaks.
