Trucking Brands Help Battle Coronavirus

Now a few months into the spread of the novel Coronavirus, the United States is still under Stay at Home orders in most states and the workload on truckers shows no signs of slowing down.

But as cases of COVID-19 continue to rise across the country, some big names in trucking are stepping up and joining in the efforts to keep first responders, medical workers, and others safe and supplied with essential goods during this time.

ConMet Donates Food, Prints Masks

In addition to being the leading supplier of wheel ends, aluminum castings, and plastic components for the commercial vehicle industry, Consolidated Metco has also been dedicated to providing relief during Coronavirus. ConMet recently raised $5,000 for the Clark County Food Bank in Vancouver, Washington, to help provide food assistance to families who have been affected by the virus. Amsted Industries, ConMet's parent company, has agreed to match that amount, resulting in a $10,000 contribution to the food bank.

ConMet's additive manufacturing team is also utilizing their in-house 3D printers to create face shields to donate to local frontline workers at Portland Fire & Rescue, Oregon Health & Science University, PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, and Legacy Health. ConMet has also been working with the Washington State Coronavirus Response Team and is sending shields to them to distribute to communities that have been affected the most.

Horton Dedicates 3D Printing for Masks

One of the best engine cooling manufacturers in the business, Horton has taken its technology that is typically reserved for prototype development and machine fitting samples and has begun creating face shield frames for use in hospitals throughout the Twin Cities.

The face shield frames created by Horton will house the clear shield that protects the faces of medical professionals during patient care. With PPE still urgently needed in many states, Horton Engineering Technician Dennis Skalecki and Application Engineer Ryan Niederkorn connected with a local engineering teacher for a 3D printing model and have since assembled and distributed more than 1,200 shields to health care providers across the Midwest at Regions Hospital, Children's Minnesota, Methodist Hospital, North Memorial, the Dakota County Sheriff's office and all Minnesota veterans' homes.

BorgWarner Donates Essential Items

When it comes to coming up with ways to improve reliability, uptime and efficacy, BorgWarner is no stranger to being solutions-focused, and they've shown the same level of leadership in the continuing battle against Coronavirus.

With headquarters in Auburn Hills, Michigan — one of the states that has been experiencing high numbers of active COVID-19 cases — BorgWarner along with two other automotive companies supported the Auburn Hills Fire Department and police department by donating gloves, hand sanitizer, and disinfecting wipes. These necessary items will help these dedicated workers stay safe while helping others in the community.

Enersys Creates Live-Saving Batteries

Enersys, a global leader in stored energy solutions for industrial applications and the manufacturer of Odyssey batteries, has also been dedicating their battery expertise to helping Coronavirus patients. The Enersys team went above and beyond their daily production routine and ensured the timely shipping of 90,000 CYCLON batteries, which help power the respiratory units that are currently being used to treat COVID-19 patients.

We're Still Here. Let's Do This Together.

If there's anything that we've learned from this pandemic, it's that trucking is truly America's backbone, and we're proud to be part of it and support the brands and companies that step up during a national crisis. Keeping trucks moving is a job that we take seriously, and we remain open for business to help truckers keep up the hard work. Our parts distribution centers remain operational at standard business hours and capacity, and our e-commerce website is open 24/7/365 to help you get what you need so you can get back on the road.

During this time, we also remain dedicated to the health and safety of our operations teams as they report to our parts distribution centers and to the rest of our teams who are supporting customers remotely.

We're still here to support you every step of the way. Let's do this together.
