Electronic Monitoring Systems
Did you know that daily pre-trip brake inspections are required for CDL? While this is true, they are rarely performed due to the time it takes for inspection. Because of the difficulty with inspection, drivers continue to cruise down roadways with brakes that just might need repair. That's why there are electronic monitoring systems (EMS) from MGM Brakes.
e-STROKE® from MGM is an electronic monitoring system for commercial vehicles equipped with drum and air disc brakes. The electronic system utilizes patented sensing technology to monitor brake stroke and convey the information over to an electronic control unit (ECU) for analysis. Additionally, the system "can detect braking issues or potential problems including: improper automatic slack adjuster operation or maintenance, caliper internal adjuster mechanism failure (disc brakes), improper brake set-up or adjustment, air leaks or an improperly operating air system, defective air brake control valves, worn foundation components (i.e. worn bushings etc.), defective or worn spring parking brakes, and ice in the air system." Spotlight on S-Cam Brakes
The TR Series model is just one of many S-Cam Brakes from MGM available in a 3 inch long stroke design for added braking safety. This model is an industry standard double-diaphragm spring brake that offers several features and benefits to customers such as: "an external breather tube system, epoxy-coated inside and out for extra protection in unusually tough, corrosive operating environments, extra parking force, and weld-reinforced mounting bolts to provide a stable, strong mounting base for installation on equipment where extreme vibration is a concern."
Like the TR Series model, the LTR models come with a 3 inch long stroke version but come with the added benefit of integral release tool; all aluminum head and longer-life power spring. The MGM J-Series piston brakes are a top choice in parking vehicle holding situations thanks to their 900+ spring force strength grade (on the Type 30 J-Series) - greater than the TR type 36 brake. This type of brake is recommended for transit and emergency vehicles and when hauling maximum loads through rugged terrain.
Lastly, the C and CS models are made from heavy-duty formed steel components that will offer longer product lifespans and corrosion protection in harsh environments.
